Seems everyone thinks it's possible but no one knows how to do it. Sorry I don't either.
One more post and no answer, I really hope someone will be able to reply to your question emit with a how to explanation.

make a long square with your select tool. Fill it with what ever color you want. Deselect and then add a Twirl effect on it (Filters -> Distort -> Twirl)
i guess this should give you something simular..

I think that's what he did, it looks like he draw it with a pencil.
Inochi, the twirl effect I tried, but I think it's not exaclty what he wants, anyway he'd have to tell us.

yea i've tried the twirl filter however it's not really what i need. its like an @ but with an 'e', if you seen what i mean?
what i was wondering (and hoping) is that there is some filter that smooths out the drawing to it looks professional.
thanks for your replies

it's easy, you just scan it, then use the magic wand tool to select the part on the inside of the twirl that you want to color, then fill it, figure out the rest, it's not hard

webmaster05 - I don't think you understand. He is asking for help on taking the sketch and smoothing out the lines and making it look like a clean cut logo.

i dont know how good at photoshop you are, but i'm pretty sure you could use the pen tool to make the curves how you wanted and then fill it or do whatever you want with it, but i still haven't figured out that tool so i'm not totally sure of its capabilities.

can't u just draw it with a pen tool?
*edit - some1 said that. I ahve found that in PaintShop Pro the pen tool is easily edited by manipulating the nodes on the path.

I was bored... Here's my best attempt.
I'm guessing you'd want a constant width for the "spiralled" bar. Not sure how you could do that.
