Squiggle! - Please help

Hi guys, - (a bit embarrassing really)

I was asked to redraw a logo and set it in Illustrator .ai format.

I have been trying to redraw the squiggle from a scanned image but I am always getting edges on it and it just doesn't look smooth

Obviously I am using the pen tool in Illustrator but I just can't do it.

Any ideas on how to draw a smooth squiggle?

I have attatched the squiggle.

draw it rough with pen tool - tweek the points a bit, then use the took next to the pencil, if you hold down mouse or press right mouse (forgot which) there is another tool, its used to smooth curves. Either that or use the the handles to make it smooth.
