The main difference is the illusion of light, the shadows and shine gives a 3d look, which also adds to the clarity, crispness of the text/logo.
The texture and subtle dark shape in the background adds some style.
<edit>also the green in the second graphic is more vibrant</edit>

I see the answer to "the difference" as:
a little extra time...
a little more care given to quality...

I suppose some might call texture the difference, I've heard it described this way before. I wouldn't though. I might describe the image on the background as texture maybe. The best single description I can think of to describe the right pic compared to the left is 3D, due to the embossing and drop shadows, which some would consider a texture difference generally. So I suppose I'd have to answer yes.

I am writing an article about sensory branding and wanted to use the graphic as an example of the difference impressions you can get. Was wanting a one-word, non technical word to describe the difference.

Texture adds dimension to a graphic, it went from flat to more of a 3d look in your example.
