the 4 layers. I got the forms from a picture of a tree in my backyard. Then it was a lot of brush - clone and distorting work.

what do you mean you got it from a tree, you pasted it in, smothed it out, changed some layer settings? please explain

it aren't 4 layers
it are more around 30
but the ones for the tree can be directed in 4 groups, so 4 layers

I thought you had already told us how it was done ... brush(draw)/clone/distort/.... you didn't go into great detail but.. effects/color etc... are kind of obvious. I don't really see any great mystery here... and I'd say your quite good at it ...

erm brush? clone? distort? clone stamp tool? distort eh? i dont the effects applied do you atom? he might of set one layer to color burn for all i know... the texture seems high res and would have to be to gain any decent effect, if he drew a tree shape and applied a texture of a tree it would indeed look like a tree, and then you could clone stamp this effect... its all the other effects i wanna know like the lighting, seems like a layer set to a certain style?

AcRoNym ... your pretty good ... I'll bet if you took a piece of the tree into PS for reference, and put some time and effort in .... you could do this too ,,,, if you really wanted to ... it might take quite a while at first... but once you had it down... you'd be golden.... he seems to have it down quite well... I also see that he has good artistic skills... which is something I have never had ... but can recognize

I don't know... somehow, I see the lighting as the easier part .. and the rest as the more difficult stuff... I don't know though .... I've never tried to create a pic like this... I should prob. try it... I'm sure I'd learn a lot... even if it was that I couldn't do it... or couldn't do it very well... I'm sure I would gain some useful knowledge that could be applied in making different types of pics though

"haha, had more requests like that, so i'll concider wrinting something about my work, and how I create it.. (or atleast attempt to)"
but I don't know if he'll include a tut or what...
