Test Your Graphic Skills #1

Please keep the converstaion down to a minimum in this thread.

The challange is to test yourself... you are not going up against any of the other entries... this is not a contest... it is a training lesson to try to help you improve you graphic skills.

This test is to remove the person completely from the image below. No ghosts, or clothes... you need to remove the person and redraw the background to what would be behind him.

Here is a link to the image:
http://www.juggopop.com/tutorials/ch...invisible1.jpg

It's very large... also, I tried to pick something with an easy background for this first one.

Please post your results as links to keep the thread load time down to a minimum.
Also, you may resize the image down for posting so that it is not "super huge" (this is also a tip in hiding small mistakes)

have fun!
- JuggoPop

I was actually going to try to do that. I was going to copy and paste the surrounding bg into the gaping hole I left, but I couldn't get it to look right...

ok... here you go... I got about 90% done... but I'm going to bed so I figured I would just stop so people could see what can be done with the clone tool and a LOT of masking.

Here is the 100% size version of just the guy missing (so you can see the detail in the background)
http://www.juggopop.com/tutorials/ch.../man-close.jpg

and here is a 50% version of the whole thing as an animated gif so you can see it in both stages... before and after.
http://www.juggopop.com/tutorials/ch...es/man-far.gif

sorry for the large files sizes, but I didn't want to loose any detail in compression.

Maybe I need to do a tutorial on this... it comes in handy when cleaning up photos.

-----------

I hope people will still try their hand at this so I can see where most people go wrong... that way I can make a better tutorial and help everyone out with this skill.

Very good - both of you. I hate to be a party pooper, but I feel obliged to point out that in both pictures, the shadows left by the man are still there, even while the man isn't.

Do I get a cookie?

yea when i get home from school ill do this. ive done it tons of times before. and gandalf i use the clone tool and stamp tool, im not sure if juggopop did it the same or not. select the clone tool, right click on an area of the background and then draw over what you are trying to make dissapear, its actually quite easy, more time consuming than anything.
