Slicing a Background
Hey guys.
I need to get rid of a background on a picture. The picture is of Nomar (below), and I only want nomar, not the fans in the background. Anyone have any tips on how to get rid of everything except Nomar? (PS 7)
Thanks ...

well.. i dont see a picture... get file as big as u can.. select rectangles outside nomar's head. get alot .. doesnt need to be too specific
then use the automatic selector w/ 20 and click all around where nomar isnt.. then once done click delete. and your finished.

in that pic it might be better to do the opposite.. select nomar (and probably the baseball too) .. ctrl-shift-I (select inverse) then delete.

Use a layer mask. Paint black over the crowd.

its a layer that hides the other layers... Basically.. color in the crowd what ever color you want... to make a background.... Or you can try to cut him out in photoshop also.

That is not what a layer mask is. A layer mask masks part of a layer. You don't color in the crowd any color you want. You put black over them so that the layer under it shows through.

A mask is a thousand times easier to do and easier to fix if you mess up.
