GIF Compression

I have an animated GIF that was originally 3.5 megs. Using photoshop I was able to shrink it to 275K, I'm not satisfied. I would like to shrink the GIF to atleast 150K or smaller. I have tinkered with every setting within photoshop, from colors to you name it, if it's in photoshop I already tried it.

With the vast amount of GIF animation software on the net, one could spend days downloading and trying. Any recommendations or experience on a GIF animation software that has an algorthim compression that is better then Photoshop, besides Fireworks, preferable free or opensource ? If there is only a commercial alternative that is less expensive then fireworks, I'll take it.

You may find those to be useful

I don't think you will be getting much smaller than 275k. Taking an image from 3.5M to 275k is a lot of compression and data loss. You may need to look at Flash instead of a GIF.

So why the need to get the file so small? The download and space requirements for a 250k versus a 150k files are minor.

I don't use the GIF formats anymore. JPEG and PNG formats are my choices these days.

PNG and JPEG can't used in animation,., btw, I don't think you can adjust your animated gif from 3 megs to 275k, yes lot of data loss in your project.. go for flash it will solve your problem...
