I made an animated banner!

I've made an animated banner! Woo Hoo!

I've done plenty of static ones before cos I use photoshop quite a lot and since I've started up my own business I thought I'd better try and do something a bit more eye catching so I tried out Image Ready - can't believe I've ignored it for so long!

It's a first go at animating and I think there's a cock-up on one bit.

But please let me know what you think! Any tips are most welcome!

this is your first one? I think you did a wonderful job! Red is my favorite color (ok that's neither here nor there), and the animation runs slow... I like that. I hate animations that go so fast you have to be a speed-reader to keep up.

very nice!

Thanks ohio,

I picked the colour scheme as I thought it would stand out on a lot of sites as most sites tend to use lighter, softer colours - which is great cos it's easy on the eye, I can't remember the time I was on a red website last actually (feel free to correct me if your page is red - i'll have to check once i've posted!).

yea it is a first effort and i'm really pleased with it but like i said i've been using photoshop for a while (about 5 years actually).

plus i got to use the word HOT! hahaha, i love it!

Can anyone give me some tips on how to make images move? I know how to make them flash or blink and I get the idea of animating movement I'm just wondering if there's an easier way of doing it whilst keeping a small file size?

first... I think the banner is nice ...and slow can be good, but I think it's a bit too slow. If it was on a page people may have scrolled away before ever seeing it change. People move around online really fast. You might consider having different frames at different speeds depending on the amount of text on that frame.

Another thing I noticed was it seems there is too much text on that one frame... I'm not sure what to read first... it might be better to rethink what you want to say and make that statement in one phrase.

About your last question... What are you trying to make move? and how? I might be able to help.

I had a play with a package a while ago which did a really nice import of photoshop layers.

If by "move" you mean this kind of fade effect (which could also be a move) the image has about 20 layers just for the "Still $295" to fade in an out and we spent ages tweaking how long they'd show to get the right kind of effect. We were pleased with the outcome but I'm confident that with time we'd learn to do it so much better.

I just use the "tween" button on the animation palette.
Attached you can see an edited version of the image sarahk posted (hope you don't mind).

I sped up the frame rate on the fade and extended the wait on the key frames. I also managed to take out a few frames and decrease the file size.

On the other one attached I show a different kind of "move". Same idea, done different.

#1 is closer to my first attempt - "no no slow it down", "really?", "yes it's way too fast", "ummm ok"
#2 hadn't even tried this one, it's cool.

Thanks Juggo - all duely noted. *thumbs up* the making things move question was just general really, nothing in particular just yet.

BTW - i've just wasted £29, that's around $50 on buying 25,000 banner ads on a particular website (pm me if you want to know who - don't think i'm aloud to post addresses) and out of all those adds i got 31 click throughs. That's a CTR of 0.14%!! I know the banner is slow (and that will be changed) but surely that figure is suspicous???!! I actually saw my banner TWICE in members section of the site on several occasions.

Once to show the banner I'm currently displaying and the other one was an actual advertisment IN THE MEMBERS SECTION!! ADVERTISING MY OWN BANNER TO ME!!

Can anyone recommened a better site for generating traffic? please PM me.
I don't really want to get taken for a ride again - I'm well p!ssed off.
