Creating a transparent html slice in Fireworks

Is there a way to add a transparent background to an html slice in Fireworks?

why do you need a transparent bg in an html slice? do you mean a transparent .gif image, or for instance a round image that the background shows through on a webpage?

I am using a large faded logo for the background of a web site. There is a swap image nav bar on the upper part of the logo using parts of the logo for the swap effect. I would like to add text to the lower part of the background image but when I make the slice an html slice it makes the background of that slice white. I would like to make the bg of the slice transparent so the image shows through. The file is being created in Fireworks and will be exported as an html file to Dreamweaver. I need the text slice to be an html slice not a gif slice for search engines.

It would probably help if you could show the page, still sounds confusing as to what you are trying to acheive, if you could do this I expect it will be easy to offer an idea

incidentaly, a graphic link with alt text is as good as a plain old text link, the only thing that wouldn't be good is if the graphic link has a javascript rollover.

You could always repeat the navigation as text at the bottom of the page though.
