Slices in Adobe Illustrator

Is it just me or does anyone else have this problem? Here is my dilemma, I've been learning how to do slices in Illustrator and ya know how it automatically renumbers them after you combine certain slices right? Well, when I slice stuff up, it leaves out a number like instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 it goes 1,2,3,4,5,7,8... I've been on the border of going crazy. Any suggestions or is it just a bug in the program? I personally would't really care otherwise but I've gotta send a sliced up page for a school project and I am not pleased with the jumping number after I combine. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks!

are you auto slicing or manual slicing. It may be that there is an overlapping area that is small making a slice but it wont show the number if it is too small. try grabing all your slices & stretching them out to see if there is such an area.

It worked out fine when I tried it again. I was using the manual method of creating slices (guides)... I am going to play around slicing up other stuff and see if I have any more problems. Thanks for the input!
