Simple easy to learn video editor
My feelings won't be hurt if this is moved to a different sub-forum but this looked like the best fit.
I am interested in hearing opinions about video editing software. My initial needs are limited and I don't mind to spend a hundred bucks. I would like to edit and combine a series of 30 second clips to make a few things for the tube and for use on my sites. My needs might expand if I like doing these.
I started looking for free ones and the only commercial product I have slightly looked at is Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate. I do have the SP3 release of the Microsoft Movie Maker installed on my system but have never taken it for a test drive.
So what say you folks?

Sony Vegas - any video editor is going to need basic skills but Vegas is the best out there for it's money. I have used Vegas for editing, adding sound files and introductions etc to various game movies I have done for my clan/guilds for games such as WoW etc and it's fantastic.
Plus with Vegas being so popular on Youtube due to it's good pricing and ease-of-use there's plenty of folks out there writing tutorials.

I second Sony Vegas. It really is the cleanest and easiest with plenty of support/tuts online, low learning curve and high quality output - up to 1080.
If you're looking for something you can quickly drop clips into, shorten, cut with, add a title and output for YouTube or DVD, Sony Vegas is what you need.
You can buy the full Pro package for $600 or just get the cheapest [not in terms of quality] Studio HD for $45 - which is just the editor and a few limits - here is the comparison.
Go buy it. Now.
And feel free to poke me if you have any Q's - I've been using Vegas since Sony bought it out from Sonic Foundry and have upgraded since [thought currently do not have v11]

Adobe Premiere is another one worth looking into. If you have a Mac, iMovie is pretty good at turning simple movie clips into great productions.

Nice Sharing....
A good video editor should be intuitive, flexible, allowing for nearly endless options, and easy to use, while not sacrificing many features.

Hi ScriptMan,
I highly suggest MoviePlusX6 from Serif Software. I, like you needed something that I didn't have to go to school to learn. I checked out all the above recommendations, but when I got to MoviePlus I was sold.
It had the smallest learning curve with fantastic tutorials, and even better support from the great Serif forums. It was a matter of a week and I was doing all types of video editing, that I thought I could never learn. Check it out.
Good Luck

I'm still monitoring this thread. I think I am going to start with MS movie maker since it is already installed as a part of SP3. That way I can better define what I do and don't want in the 'final cut'.
