What do most designers use for logos?
What do most designers use to create awesome/amazing logos? I know many use Illustrator but I've heard some use CorelDraw with a tablet? I'm just looking at logos and am wondering how you create some of these images in the logos(palm trees, etc)
Would you suggest a tablet to a beginner?
Thanks!

I can say that Photoshop and Illustrator are leading industry tools for logo creation and other graphics design. However, it you are looking for other tools, you can try 3D creation software such as Maya, 3DS Max, or Cinema 4D. They can bring some additional dimension into your work, but be aware that there is a steep learning curve and a hefty price tag.
For beginners, you can also try vector based free image editor like Inkscape - inkscape[DOT]com

There are hundreds of software for graphic works, you can choose any of them as per your accessibility, but remember all tools are blind. You have to come up with innovative idea, and that's important. Does it matter which keyboard you are using to type? Am I make sense?

Illustrator for logos and other work that needs to have the ability to expand. A free alternative to this is Inkscape which provides vector, but this all depends on what you need. Photoshop for retouches ect.

Illustrator for logos and vectors and Photoshop is for anything else.
I see so many designers move away from Photoshop for the logo designing process and I can see why. Illustrator makes better renderings.

There are many software that can be used that are suited for people who do not wish to become graphic experts....(and spend big dollars)
Xheader can do some nice work...(not an affiliate)
Paint.net...easy to use...
Gimp is good......has a moderate learning curve....
Of course a little talent and artistic imagination will also help.... ))
I have used the less "super" programs for years...they work pretty good....for me....

There is no movement to vector programs when ti comes to logo design. That is simply what you need to be designing in. You don't create logos in photoshop, gimp or anything other raster based program.

You don't have to use a vector program like Illustrator. Some just feel that it works the best. You can create a good quality logo in Photoshop, or even paint.net. Paint.net is similar to photoshop in many ways, its just free, and slightly limited when you compare it to photoshop. In the end, its not the software, but the skill of the designer that decides the outcome of the logo.

That is not an opinion. That is a fact. Logos need to be created in vector so that they have the ability to scale and maintain quality. You cannot scale a raster image(photoshop). Anything done in a raster based program is not a professional logo. I've written on it before briefly. In short you've got raster=pixel. Pixel=bad. Raster Vs. Vector Logo Design If you are referring to designing a logo for your blog you should probably be okay. If you have a business and will need to use your logo outside of the web(ie billboards, banners, signs other adver. ect) you will need a professional logo. This means it will not be done in photoshop. As I said before this is not an opinion. Also don't hate me for clearing that up! I enjoy the forum and what I'm learning from reading some posts.

Illustrator is the best software in this world for designing vector logos. 90% of top most designers can this software. Some use Photoshop but Photoshop is not a vector software.

As I said before. Vector for logos unless you are creating a blog logo that is strictly meant for blog use. This is not an opinion.

Illustrator is best for that. Photo-shop is best for graphic designs. And since logos require less of that, I recommend Illustrator.

I use the whole Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign depending on the exact effect I am looking for. Fairly expensive but you pay for what you get.

Photoshop and Illustrator are used by designer for designing a logo because both provide superior results while creating a graphic design. Mostly professional web designer’s suggest or prefer using Photoshop CS6 because it is the latest version of Photoshop which enhances design creativity, sharpness and productivity.
