How is this done?

Hi,
Look at the v7n forum banner above. The arrow in it... How is that made in photoshop7?
Here's what I am doing but am not even close, infact far off...
Made a thick line using line tool.
Filter > Distort > zig-zag.
A window comes up asking for settings. I set: 25%, 3 ridges, (I have 3 styles here in drop down box at bottom.)
Clicked OK and a really stupid graphic is there staring at me.
Then I changed the percentage but still looks bad.

Please tell me how to do that.
Thank you.

Well i'm not sure exactly how Juggopop made it, but it looks like he's just cut it out from a rectangle of red, then added a second duplicate layer under it, merged then together and stroked them.

It's too neat to be cut out of a rectangle using mouse.
There's got to be a tool...

Can you give me a little more detailed description about how you did it?
This looks just right!

1. Create a square of colour on a new layer.

2. Using the polygon lasso tool, draw your arrow design and keep it selected.

3. Now invert the selection (Select > Inverse) and press DEL or BACKSPACE.

4. Now add a stroke (Layer > Layer Style > Stroke) to your arrow layer.

5. Duplicate the layer and move the one behind down a few pixels (down or diagonal-down works)

6. Modify the pixels of the area shown if you need to.

7. Change the colour of the 2nd layer (Layer > Layer Style > Color Overlay)

8. Add an inner glow (Layer > Layer Style > Inner Glow) to the top layer to give it a nicer finish.

Juggo maybe does it different but that's basically how i created my example.

Ok, here's one I did. Why is my line distance all mismatched? At some places it's thick, at some others it's too thin. Not parallel like yours...

you need to take more care in drawing the shape if you want it all even etc. It looks a bit blocky there, did you have anti-aliasing checked or not?

No Anti alias was not checked... Plus I didn't draw a box firsst. Here's how I did it:

Selected polygon from tools,
Drew the shape,
Copy merge to new file,(transparent pixels).
Layer styles > Gradient overlay.

I wanted to change the color of gradient (layer styles) but could not figure out how...There's no color box in there.

Thanks

I had a plain arrow made from the selection of arrows in the photoshop custom shape tool... I rotated it to an angle.

I copied a section of it and pasted it onto a new layer. did this a couple of times to get the angled parts of the arrow body, I drew in the straignt/level parts.

put a stroke around it, and pressed alt+ up arrow, left arrow, alt+ up arrow, left arrow, etc. until I had the depth I wanted.

Added a new stroke and a drop shadow...

If your good in Illustrator its very simple with the pen tool then just add a drop shadow and be done with it. Plus illustrator has 3-D rendering in the CS package. I know you asked about Photoshop, I just wanted to chime in for an alternative.
