Point me to a gel text tutorial?

Hi, folks;

I wanna experiment with making a logo of gel text. I've located a few and they all suck; if you know of a good one, I'd be grateful if you'd give me the URL. Thanks!

While I have you here, can you name a typeface that looks like tubes. ie, PVC pipes?

(Maybe in the end, I'll go with neither of these, but I wanna speriment.)

Thanks!
