Better yet, Apple/Shift/4 lets you specifically hone in on only the area of the screen you want to take a picture of, instead of getting the whole screen.
Surely there must be a way to do this on Windows? That or some program that does it? The whole print screen thing is quite complicated and time consuming.

Print Screen + Enter under Gnome (Linux). And it saves as .png, which is loss-less.
