question about selling
hey i'm intrested in selling prints of some of my art online. i'm going to have them on a web site.
but my question is what is the best way to display the full image for view without it being possible for someone to just save my image and print it off themselves.
of course i could put a large unatractive watermark over the image, but it would take away from the artwork itself. I could also disable right click on the page which would get a few people away, but u could just highlight the images and save it or "print screen".
Has anyone seen any good ideas or have any????
Thanks in advance.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. You won't be losing any money from that.
Nobody is going to print a 72dpi image they swiped off a website and show it off as a print. Just dont make high res images available and that's about you should hope for. Anything else is paranoia these days. If they like it, they'll buy it. If they dont like, they won't rip it. If they like it and cant buy it, they'll likely move on.
What you should be worried about is people taking your images and calling it theirs or using parts of it in their own works without giving you credit. That, imo, is worth taking a few steps like watermarking.

Yeah but it's still only going to be 72dpi. You can also compress it enough that if anyone did want to print it out, the best they could get at a resonable quality would be 5x7. So if they tried 8x10 even, you'd see artifacting and it would just generally be a crappy print. *shrug* And, again, going back to what I was saying about someone who might print it, probably not showing it off 'as a print'... They'd be printing it just to have a crappy copy to show a friend, maybe...

There is no "best way" because of the simple fact that there is NO way, to my knowledge.
Personally, I would strive to become a great artist and hope that some fame would follow, making the fight worthy.

just watermark it, very transparent though, and only in neccessary areas of the picture that you think wont unattract your image.
