What is the purpose of creating the layers in photo shop?

You can use Photoshop layers to keep different elements of your work separate. This makes it easier to move them around or delete them.

The layers in photoshop is very use full tool because in photoshop for each change if add a layer and do the changes in that layer then afterwards we can remove or add the changes without affecting remaining edits.

For ex.: if i will add a shadow and also try to recolor it then if i want to remove the shadow then it will be hard and hectic. but if i do both operations on different layer then i cab make visible or not visible that particular layer.
