no i don't have any tutorials, I use the burn and dodge tools alot, and the background is make with clouds, and then then a heavy zoom, and a levels adustment, i do adust the curves and levels alot, the greenish, yellow ear on the right side was made using the square marquee tool, then i inverted it, and changed the color, the jaged things in the eye are made with the polygon laso tool
hope that helps a little

i started with an asian women, and then i did my thing to it, and the piece was really dark and her face was enterly red, but i seemed kinda plain, and to much like the piece trapt, that i made, thats when i decided to give it not an abstract, but differant look, with the lime green and all that

Very nice, the text "goodbye", seems out of place though.

do you mean that that their shouldn't be any text at all, or that you don't like the positioning of it?

Well, personally i think it contradict's the image. Why did you put goodbye? Is it meant to be a romantic farewell?
The image looks a bit evil you see.

it's suppoesed to represtent hurt of someone leaving, thats why she looks sad and evil, and I gave the background a zomming effect, to represtent the passage of time, and her face is differnt colors in differant boxes to represtent differant emotions, the green being confussion, the red, sadness, and the pink, regular feelings

very good, perhaps you could add much more powerfull hints by using a poem on the left instead of just 'good bye'.

I don't like the middle strip ...
To me, it gives it a horrifying and ugly look, at first glance especially, although it did spark my curiosity and imagination, and I was driven to closer inspection, where it didn't seem as bad.

After sitting here for 10mins looking at the image, I have desided it has a niceness about it, coupled with sadness. It also has a sense of postcard style to it, very nice.

To me all the love has almost gone from it completely (now I know a bit about the background story).
Then again there would be no hurt/sadness if there was no love to start with...
... the passion does come through i s'pose, and the confusion too.
As he said the image is for him, not us, then you don't need to do anything to it, but if it was for us i would ask if we should be able to get the idea of passion and confusion and guess at the story, OR are we just supposed to see what it means to us.
I think there's two art types:
(1) expressive - sending a message (hopefully same message to each viewer);
(2) evocative - stiring the emotions and memories/imagination (but leaving up to individual interpretation);
Anyone agree or have other ideas?

Yes.... I agree w/you LJ...
I also think that some art contains both types...
