Stock "Loading" Images?

I came across a URL in a book at Borders the other day for a site that offers free "Loading" images to let the user know something is going on through the site. I stupidly didn't write down the URL, and I was wondering if anyone knows of sites where I might find something like this. Thanks!

What I mean is, you often see animated "Loading..." images on sites or in applications when data is loading. Here is a crappy sample of what I mean, it's the only one I could find:

http://kunsthalle.conne.net/kids/log...g_animated.gif

What I'm looking for is a site that has free images like the one above. I know there is at least one site that has freebies like this, but I don't know where it is.

Edit: Here are a couple more examples of what I mean:

Is this thing turning into some new fad or something? I don't get it...

You don't get why people would want their sites to look nice and user-friendly?

There's no point in being condescending to me.

I know the rationale behind a loader. FOR FLASH! What I don't get is why anyone would want to use this concept, to... to do what exactly? Preload a static page? Show that a page is loading? I'm not sure I follow...

I saw this once. I laughed at it. 'user friendly' was not the term that first came to mind.

I wana see more, please show examples of them in use... The links above? I couldn't find a single use of them...

I didn't intend to come off as condescending, so I apologize. The reason I was looking to use an image like this is for portions of my website that utilize AJAX.

Usually when navigating from page to page, you see the IE globe spin or Mozilla's spinner in the corner, which tells the user that something it happening and to please wait.

Well with AJAX, communication is happening on the back-end, and the user can't see this. In order to let my users know that "we heard you and are working for you", it is necessary to display something to them, whether it be the word "Loading" or what have you. I personally feel that a nice graphic displayed nicely with this text will make the site generally appear nicer than a simple text block with the word "Loading".

I hope this helps to explain where I am coming from in my search.

Thanks for clearing that up. I can wrap my head around it

I'm not reading much in favor of this... Is is serving a real or perceived function? Perceived functions are, okay, in my book. Flash uses allot of slight of hand so to speak to keep the users attention... I can see this working on that level.

Not being the 'average user', however, means I could thumb my nose at it if the content doesn't meet my expectation.

It almost seems like someone is trying to capture that tiny void of non'internet between pages being displayed. Advertising space between content. You have the users undevided attention at the moment the mouse button is clicked to navigate, and your pausing the whole experience.

The perfect spot to blip a blot...

*shivers*

I've been looking for these for a long time, since my new website is all Ajax as well.

I found a site a while back with tons of these loading images, and I thought I bookmarked it, but ended up not doing it.

Any suggestions would be nice!!

I didn't look. But why not just make your own? animated .gif or whatever...

Seems like a no brainer there.
