Logo design question here.

Good day everyone,

I was thinking about getting some logo software to create logos to sell to website owners. I was also thinking once I figure out the software and learn how to do things, then I'd add a link to a logo design product page to my website.

Now I have two questions today, I hope you can help. First off, are there any copyright issues regarding the creation of logos for sale, or do you just create the logo, see if the customer likes it, if they do, then sell it to them and it's is now their property and if they'd like to copyright it, then they can ?

Second, I have no idea how getting the finished logo to them would work. Do you have to upload it to your site with a download link with a passcode required for them to get the finished product once it's paid for.

How difficult is it to learn the download link and setting up the page for them to get their product to their site ?

I was thinking it would work in a similiar fashion as ebooks ? Is this correct ? And is it something that I could learn with not too much computer intellect, if you know what I mean.

Besides, my site is in need of a logo too.

Thank you,
Linda

What sort of logo creation software are you asking about? The problem with some of the stuff I see out there is they are just slapping a font onto a piece of clipart. In which case the person buying the logo isn't getting anything individual or original.

You have to be very careful when using clipart and some fonts, many times there are stipulations in the eula that state that it can't be used for resale.

There are many considerations when designing a logo. The nature of the product or firm, the purpose for which it'll will be used: branding, print, net, clothing, labels, packaging?

Most logos are designed using vector software to allow for scaleability, and color management.

Usually the source files are transferred to the buyer (ai, cdr, eps, etc. in layered format) and appropriate gif, jpg or png files. The font files may also be required, in which case you may have to purchase the appropriate license in order to make that transfer. Many times copyright releases and non-disclosure agreements are required.

Logo creation is not something everyone should feel capable of becoming proficient with.

The most effective logos are created by graphic professionals, who have studied color theory, design, composition and marketing. It's not just a matter of putting together something pretty or catchy.

Hi Linda

I'm trolling though old posts, and wondered if you went ahead with making the logos, and if so how is it going?

We make logos quite often, as part of branding packages, so I could offer some feedback if you are doing this.
