Square Aqua Button

Here is a square aqua colored button. Download the xcf for the Gimp, or the psd for Photoshop. Glass is on a seperate layer for easy text insertion. Feel free to use it if you like.

That is a good idea. I never thought of writing a tutorial until I got your post here. It will have to be a Gimp tutorial, tho, I do not own photoshop and if I did, I'd have to spend a couple months learning to use it. But, in the meantime, you can download the xcf or psd file, and check out how I layered the button. That may help you a bit. It has a base layer which includes a slight drop shadow, and a glass layer on top of the base layer so you can insert text in between the two. When I create the buttons, they have a few more layers to start with, but I eventually merge them to the fewest layers that I can for the final button. If you don't know anything about layers or semi transparent gradients, I would suggest doing a search for layer/gradient tutorials for the drawing software that you are going to be using. The Gimp is free, Photoshop costs. I will post a link to the tutorial when I am finished with it. Be patient, please. This will be the first tutorial that I have tried to make.

It's pretty, it'd be good if you do a tutorial like what have been suggested above, but to me, the button is kinda huge, maybe do a 88x31 button(standard for plugboards)...

I offer the main files for download, the image can be easily resized to your specifications with photoshop or gimp. I left it kind of generic with the glass and the button on seperate layers in the file, so you can make different copies of the button with different text layers. Whole sets of matching buttons can be easily produced by changing the text layer and copy visible-->paste as new.
