For Confused Minds: What Are Vector Graphics?

Hello Everybody

It has been a long time since i discussed about various graphic design components. Below im defining "What Vector Graphics Are?, What Are There Specifications and Other Stuff Related To Them." I'm sure the information provided will help the newbies and moderates in acquiring and refreshing their design knowledge and expertise.

Vector graphics are based on mathematical definitions. These graphics are built of various small points which combine to make curves and lines. There are a few points known as Bezier curves which connect the control points. Designers generally prefer to use this program because it gives the best and crisp graphics.

Some of the feature of Vector graphics are as follows:

1. Small Size (because they contain only the data that makes Bezier curves and points)
2. Stored in EPS-file format
3. Scale without loss of Quality (can be scaled upto 20%)

The Programes and Applications which handle Vector Graphics:

1. Adobe Illustrator
2. Corel Draw
3. Macromedia Freehand

Vector Graphics vs Bitmap Graphics

1. Vector Gs are more flexible than Bitmap Gs
2. Quality is awsome as Vector Gs are high resolution centric
3. Best print quality
4. Vector Gs are made up of Paths while Bitmaps are made up pf Pixels
5. Bitmap Gs are used for Photography while Vector Gs for Illustrations

Popular Jargons :

1. BMP: Bitmap
2. JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group
3. GIF: Graphic Interchange Format
4. PNG: Portable Network Graphics
5. DIP: Device-Independent Bitmap
6. TIFF: Tagged Image File Format
7. PSD: PhotoShop Document
8. TARGA: Truevision Advanced Raster Graphics Adapter

Well so much of bashing my post and i guess you were pretty good at it!

Ummm...well if you check out the left hand corner of the http://www.logodesignguru.com website than you would see a CLEAR link pointing to our UK LOGO DESIGN section.

It seems that me and my team are trying to STEAL!! our own Content?

It would be better that you should Quickly & Simply post an Appology the way you Quickly & Expertly pointed out a mistake with vrious Quotes. I hope you have quotes for appologies?

Next time dont review Anything if you are short on re-search! because this may create a negetive impact on members of a prestigious forum.

#2 is misleading (not precise?). As a matter of fact there are a couple dozen file formats for vector graphics. Some of them are considered major formats (ai, cdr, cgm, dfx, pdf, svg to name a few). Btw, EPS is a combination of vector and raster.

It might be good to include some free/open source packages so that folks could try VG without having to spend money or using pirated software such as OpenOffice, Inkscape, JHotDraw etc.

Thanks for the elaborations LF. The applications which i mentioned are industry standards and being used by my designers. You can check out our portfolio and give suggestions though. I know expensive price tags can limit your approach in achieving success.

You should have mentioned some Open Source appilications or urls in your post.

Am a bit confused to the bit about vector only being able to be scaled up to 20% before losing quality???? I have never heard of that and I am sure thats not right

Well i posted this information with best intension, everybody is prone to mistakes and i didnt said at any point that my information is FULL or COMPLETE! It is just tip of the ice berg.
