Critique a site skin, please.

I am skining a site for a friend of mine, I would like to get a bit of c&c on the design so far. Especially which side bar header looks better with the design, left or right. I am just trying to decide whether to keep going with this or trash it and start over. Thanks.

It might look a little to simple, might say childish. Could you tell what kind of website it will be ? The subject, target audience, etc.

Might help you with some ideas for it.

Hello, Brian!

I like the box from the right-hand side.
Try to include a vertical gradient and the bottom side gradient color to blend with the page bg.
It will be more attractive, IMO

It looks really old in terms of design, something people were doing in flash about 5 years ago.
