Transparent gradient
How can I use gradient tool from a red color to transparent??

i think only PNG format supports this, dunno how well it works like.

GIF also supports it, but I dont know how to do it in Photoshop.

you sure it does?
I'm sure GIF supportsonly solid colour transparencies.
the PNG transperency is called 'aplha' or something i think.

Here ya go, just make your forground color the dark red that you want, and then select, the gradient tool that i outlined in green :wink:

IE will not display png correctly. damn microsoft. The internet would be a much better place if it worked like it is suppose to.

To make it transparent, just change the opacity from one of the sliders to 0 %

Gif only supports solid transparency. It either makes things completely transparent or completely opaque. Because of this, it doesn't really dither at all.
This has been said several times in this thread.

um... there's like 13 zillion different ones isn't there? lol.... does that tell you anything significant? Or the fact that like 90 % of everyone seems to use .jpg and .gif? ... lol
I don't know but... I haven't needed anything but jpg and gif yet... so... I don't know..
Maybe Bassman knows... he's a photography guy... seems they should know a lot about that stuff...
... maybe he or someone will know, and respond with a simple explanation.. :wink:
