advertisement layout?

Hi!
I have been recently asked to come up with some advertisements
and i have no clue where to start as im used to making logos

Does anyone have any tips?

Some details would help a lot, like industry, what you are advertising - and where it will appear.

I always push images, people love them - gets a message across real quick by grabbing peoples eyes.

Im advertising a mountain bike, so i have no idea how to lay it out in the
style of an advertisement so that it looks professional and looks good lol

Did they supply you with pictures or writing? And where is this appearing (is this a banner or magazine ad....?

Definitely need a picture of the bike - even better in action. If you can get a nice pic, that can be most of the ad - just need some text in a nice spot.

Also, which part of the biking market.

There are many sub-categories that will dictate how and what you push. Technical riding, downhill, all-terrain, cross-country, freeride... Keep in mind who they're marketing and appeal to that group.
