Tell me about that. I've made plenty of logos for clients and it seems they are stuck in their ways. You can advise them to avoid things that weaken the logo or just plain look bad - but they always seem to go with what they like, not nesseccarily makes the log/identity stronger.
At the end of the day, making what the customer wants is what will pay for your work.
