New Site Layout
I decided the other day that my site needed a little updating to give it a more progressive feel. So here's what I came up with. Criticise but don't ridicule.. haha.

I'm still working on getting some content boxes and such on the interior spaces. This would be used for the front page of the site.. and then a simpler version for the rest of the pages.

You have a line on top of the construction resource box and on the bottom. But in the section to the right of it, you only have a top line. It kinda looks like the bottom line should extend across there, too.

Looks very basic; no particular definition or defining character. Not that its bad, just want to let you know it doesn't have much drool factor.

Jazzee - Good eye - thanks.
Pimp - Yeah.. I was going along with this design.. and I got this brainy idea to put those in. I'm still fighting myself on the final direction I want to go.
Fusion - it's not a web design site.. it's a well established construction site.. so I agree there isn't a whole lot of drool factor. I just wanted something a little more progressive than the blueprint.

I'm now in the process of making 2 different layouts.. one more linear and one with some accents.. I'll post them when I'm done for more comments. And thanks for the comments so far.. established what I was thinking also.

Well here's the next rendition (not quite done). It still needs a little tweaking on the text (which will be actual text).. and I'll have DIY news on the left.. just finishing up the footer section.

Looks good. Stretch that blue area to touch the bottom, looks kinda weird how that is now.

Yep - like I said "just finishing up the footer section"
It'll most likely end up wrapping across the bottom also.. I may use the lighter blue to wrap across the bottom.. we'll see.
Right under the house picture will be an area for ads / adsense. Then a larger area under that for text closely relating to previous site.

I agree.. the area on the top left is a placeholder for it.. trying to come up with something for it. It's not Juggo's work but really good for me

Well I've sliced and diced it and coded it. As far as the logo - it's coming. Some people mentioned it was loading slowly which I attribute to the remote rss feed for the news. If anybody notices please let me know and I'll switch it out for a faster server. http://www.construction-resource.com...cts/newlayout/
