Question Need help with creating striped headers

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of an easy way to create a circular striped header like the one found at the Yahoo! Sports Ball Don't Lie Blog (link)?

So far, the only method I know is to create an image with horizontal or vertical stripes, and then do the polar coords thing to turn the stripes into circular, centered rays - and then just adjust the image height to achieve the desired flatness. BUT! It doesn't look as good or as proportionate to the cited example above.

If anyone can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I checked out that link. The picture of the stripes around the basketball looks like the red rising sun. Japanese_nationalism

Used on Karate headbands. I know because I once owned one before.

You might try to tweak the image a little, to get better stripe results like the one in the link. Hope this helps!

yes krahmaan is correct, also called a starburst effect. Think you'll find illustrator is more suitable for this kind of effect.

saying that tho, once you have created a greyscale version in photoshop that you are happy with, you can resize is colour it up as required no? As long as its large enough in pixels.
