Wow i see why you have so many posts now lol. Well i think the best way to do it is to draw the rounded rectangle, bring the fill layer down to 0% and then go to paths and , do something layer and then make selection and cut what you want out. it works well but i was hoping for a quicker way.

best thing would be to have a rounded rectangle marquee tool and then place it where you want and cut out whatever you need quickly and easy. Why make square and circle marquees and no rounded rectangle marquee tool?

sounds dumb to me.

There in essence is a rounded rectangle marquee tool. Just drag out a rounded rectangle from the pen tool palette using paths, then right click and "make selection", then you can select/transform selection, and drag that vector marquee anywhere you want before deleting/deleting inverse, or copying/copying inverse. You of course can choose cutting/cutting inverse as well.

This worked for me.

Use the rounded rectangle tool to make the shape you and the size you want on a new layer of the item you are trying to cut out. Place this layer on top of the item to be trimmed.

Magnify cntrl+ until you are almost seeing pixels. Use the erase tool to erase arond the border of the rounded corners. Do all 4. Then hide the overlay layer and look at your work.

If it is what you want delete the layer with the rounded rectangle overlay. Same your image as a psd and then optimized. You can use the optimized image like any other image.

Did that help?
