Simple But Nice...
I made this Logo for a Half-Life Death Match clan, we're coming back! And I'm the webmaster this time around . But I through together this logo real quickly. I only used 1 image. But I think it turned our really nicely, I spent alot of time on the text and it's probably the best I've done . Really fits the logo.

The banner/header is good, the rest is, to be honest, ugly

buttons are too big. dont use a gradient on the content area, just either gray or white or whatever.

Well first think of what all you want to have. 3 column, 2 column, mixed around. Take into account on what you need to include on the homepage... Not really sure what I would do with this, I don't do gaming sites that much...

You mean never? lol.
Just go look at what other 'clans' or whatever have on their pages, then decide hwo you are gonna display the content on the page. I reckon, 2 columns. 75/25 ratio. Make a nice in-depth nav, in the smaller column, to make more of the site accessible quickly.

I like it. I'll agree with the buttons being too big, but I like the rollover sounds. Maybe you should use the HL menu sounds for the MouseOver and OnClick instead.
Other than the menu, I'm a fan. It's simple and concise.
I worry about the picture of Gordon, however. It looks a little grainy.

Hate when that happens . I was switching computers and transferring files from my old HD to my new one, and I accidently deleted a whole slew of my graphics and writing without realizing it. Arrrggggg .... I've still never recovered .

Grainy? That's an official picture I only altered a very small portion of it.

Stuff like that, to me, is like : too much effort for such little gain.

Damn those buttons are huge!!!
I'm viewing on a 1600x1200 resolution and they're still huge. I'd suggest changing that.

I would agree. Bring down the size of the buttons and you have a very nice header! Try 14px, but no more than 16px

And to me, that little gain can be worth all the effort.
