The only way I can think of doing something similar is duplicate the layer, erase everything but the womans face, make a new layer and use a brush to go over the spot you want to color, and change the blending mode to either Hue or Color. Then, the very first layer, desaturate that to make the rest black and white...

Dark_Matter is on the right pathDark_Matter is on the right path
ps cs?

I think maybe she is actually using the new Photoshop CS....I don't have it yet myself but I know it has a color replacement pen. I'm not sure what she means by colorize pen....but you can try using the brush palette (usually docked to the top of screen) to pick a brush, then pick "color" from the modes dropdown right next to it. That will give you a sort of tranparent color on top of the image. Try using different modes if it doesnt look right.

that being said, you can create an image like this simply by using the wand or pen tool to select the areas you want to colorize, and use hue/sat/bright and color balance tools. theres a million ways to do this.

Thanks for your responses. I only have Adobe Photoshop 7 and Coral Draw 9 at the moment, so I cant really get PhotoImpact.

She wrote something else after the colorize pen, she said " finaly i used the color replacement pen", is this available in Photoshop 7? What she has done with the eyes is excellent. She has started with a simple colour picture without those glittery eyes, and she made them up. Is there a tutorial somewhere that I can follow to get that glittery effect?

Once again, thanks for your replies. Very appreciated.

No.

Maybe in Photoshop CS though... I don't know.

But like Dark_Matter has mentioned, there's lots of ways to do that.... and it's pretty simple stuff for the average PS'r.
