Animated gif - How to?
Hello!
My boss absolutely wants me to make animated gifs I have never done this before
So what software (or even freeware) do you use to make those?
Something easy to use.
Are there any tutorials for animated gifs that you know?
What do I have to know about doing them?
Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Joanie

Imageready, which comes with Photoshop, does pretty well. Gif Construction Set - Search for construction it's #2.

one tip is that for any period of non-animation, extend the time the current frame is shown for rather than adding a lot of frames that are just the same.

lol. I would say using imageready to do it, its the easiest. And all you have to do is just make one image with more layers and you choose wich layers you want showing for that frame. I would say use imageready if you have it.

Yeah if they don't know that there is a better way!
If you use an application that doesn't expose you to the way the medium works, you won't learn much, and cannot be sure if they have done it right. Imagine if an application created a whole load of identical frames instead of the proper way!

A bit like wysiwig web page applications that output <font> and nested <table> crap, it may have been the only way when the program was invented, but now they've got no excuse not to move on to the recommended "correct" way of doing things - CSS.
These two examples, (web pages and animated gif) will both work when done the wrong way, but the benifits of doing things right, is more evident for gifs than for web sites.

OK, I've got Photoshop and ImageReady.
Does any of you know a good tutorial on how to make animated gifs with ImageReady?
Thanks,
Joanie

I use Flash, I know, I know, it's overkill but it does a great job and you can ad interactivity.

Begin with something simple but that would allow me to learn how to use ImageReady and then go on with more diffucult animated gif with a smooth evolution.
Is that possible anyway?
BTW I don't really like the PS tutorial, it doesn't look like one to me. Thanks anyway hatchet.

Thanks,
