Website header sizes?

I am just wondering what image sizes are desirable to have for a website header?

Whatever size fits your website layout.
Just don't make it too high pushing the main contents down the page.

(why are you posting this question on multiple forums?)

If you are going to use a large image, you'd better optimize it in order to reduce its file size and page load time.
Improperly optimized (or just too large) images will seriously slow down the page load time.

800 pixels? Seems fairly standard if that meets your page width

Judging by his signature, it's to try & manipulate the SERP's with as many inbound anchored links as he can utilizing repeated questions throughout a variety of forums.

You'll see this technique used by lots of self proclaimed SEO Gurus as well as other individuals that believe in the theory.

Being a mod one of the most popular/populated (thus attractive for spammers and such) forum I know this "SEO-technique" quite well.
That's why I had asked this question. Also Rep has been affected accordingly

There is no specific sIze.
Its the size that will suit and fit in accordingly to your website.

depends upon website layout. normally if you are using 800X600 header size is width 760px and height less than 120px. Image size should be under 75Kb considering slow connections.
