What are the rules for copyright?

I want to add several topics about cloth diapering to my site and I am terrified of copyright issues. Most of the topics deal with the number of diapers needed, laundering diapers, cost savings, eco-friendly facts and such.

My struggle is that most of the info doesn't change. How do I avoid being suspect to copyright infringement? I realize if I change the wording around, that should be ok. But how much change is ok?

There is a boatload of info out there and I am considering going to sites such as the RDA(Real diaper assoc.) to get my info instead of a retail site.

Any input would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

Kathy-Balter Baby

Trademark Names are copyright but product information if is a "quote" with a credit i.e. info from xxxxx.com is fine doesn't have to be a link.

If you wish to use copyrighted product names then a copyright disclaimer on the page will cover that to " trademark xxxx property of xxxxx."

Copyright is a type of intellectual property. A copyright is a set of exclusive rights granted by the government for a limited time to protect the particular form, way or manner in which an idea or information is expressed. Copyright is the legal protection given to artists or producers of creative work which protects them against unauthorized copying of their work.

All copyrighted material must be produced in a tangible medium (photo, paper, CD, or video). Concepts, processes and ideas can not be copy protected in the United States. If a statement is made yet not recorded or published it is not protected under the US copyright laws. In other words things must be recorded in a physical form in order to be protected under the copyright laws in the United States.

One thing many people miss out is giving your source credit, I have found wheather its online or in print that many will allow you to use Copyrighted/TM items if you give them credit.

At the moment, I am in a battle at the moment get some of my content remove from a few sites that have just taken all my work and branded as theirs. But credit is golden.

Thanks for posting that Cricket. I tried to look it up this morning when I first read this post and could not find the right sources.

I think a careful reading of that doc will show that web content is also protected.

Unless you own full rights to the article (you bought it), you cannot change any working in it for any reason.

You can't use an entire article without the permission of the author. You can use an excerpt and link to the original, under the Fair Use Clause.

Cricket's info is spot on.

That's a good topic, copywrite.
I spent 6months on reading related articles, and I still can't list them all. There is a principle, the rules is going to protect intelligence creator.
