In most cases you need permission, unless you are simply quoting a small segment and linking it back to his site.

Thanks. I actually found a site that had some articles that clearly had an agreement that said the articles were free to use for non commercial sites.

I have been in advertising for over thirty years. While I have yet to read the recommended. I was under the impression (not the knowledge) that if it was quoted
that it was ok.

Just mean your not going to jail and they have to spend a lot of money to take you to court. LOL

It is done everyday, I see plenty of blogs on Autopilot, sad but true. But I think it would be better to cite certain parts than to copy the whole article and paste it. It is up to the author though, of course.

IMO, that has never been the case. Any and everything that someone creates is copyrighted at creation. Even when I furnished the artwork for a newspaper ad I had no rights to reproduce that ad in another media. No reputable company would do it.

Now as the OP has discovered there are sites where people post articles for others to republish provided backlinks are maintained. It is 100% okay to publish those articles if the links are maintained.

LoL that doesn't make me want to do it. My luck they'd make an example out of me and I'd go to jail. I found some free articles so I'm content, for now.

Firstly, you should see if it have republishing criteria. Many article directories like ezine provides 25 free republishing criteria to an account. Secondly, you need to include the author link(the website link which author has included with the article).
