All you really need to do is add "Copyright [Your Name] - 2009" at the bottom of every page. Or check out creative commons ( http://creativecommons.org/) if you would like to add a license to them.

If you took the pictures -- you own the copyright. Enforcing it is another matter.
Adding the notice will slow down the honest people. Nothing will stop the thieves.
Seriously, low resolution, water-marking and a notice is you best online publication option.

Also don't forget about creative commons, place a licensing information under your created material(s).

I'd look into both a Creative Commons license and a watermarking your images.

I think you should forget about copyrighting. Even after you copyright those pictures and you see someone else using them in his/her site what can you do. The person may even copyright them his own way. So i think copyright especially on the internet is a waste of time.

First off, I agree with Cricket, edosauyi your information isn't quite right.
Virtualmisc, aside from protecting through watermarks, etc. it may not apply to your exact situation but in future it may be handy to know about 'poor man's copyright'
Basically if you have something that you have created and therefore you have the copyright on it, post it to yourself by recorded mail and leave the envelope sealed when it arrives. If ever the need arises to take someone to court over copyright infringement that can be some pretty strong evidence.
Beware though, if you do this, do not ever open the envelope except in the presence of your lawyer or some other form of legal witness.

I think You should put access rights, No need for any copyright. Share with those to whom you know.

You already own the copyright. ELCaD is spot on. He mentions the best low-cost way of proving it. For most things the copyright is like your lifetime + 70 years. This is all for the United States though...not sure where you are. It might be best for you to check with your local government if you aren't in the U.S. Here's a good primer on copyright for the United States: http://www.copyrightkids.org/. It's for kids, but all that means is that it's super easy to understand.

Whenever I post something on the web I am offering it up to the public to do with what it will. I may not want people to use my work but its something that I have no control over. If you take that attitude you can capitalize on your work.
Go to creative commons and register your work there. In the clause state that in order to use your work they must give credit to you. You could ask that whenever you use what is mine you have to make a link on the web page or magazine to my website.
This will get you a lot links to your site and its not much hassle to copywrite.

This is a very big undertaking to do a website like that. I'm just saying that if you want to make something like this, work your way up. Start with simple websites and add functionality afterwards. This is not a 5 hour website.

I think you should put the name of your website or the logo somewhere on the picture, so even if someone uses it on another site, at least is a bit of advertising for your site. That, if the person doesn't crop the picture excluding the area with your logo/site name.

If you created them, they are automatically copyright to you. Copyright is automatic, not something that *needs* to be registered.
But of course, watermarking them (and register some copyrights) can be a good way to re-inforce your rights for the images.

Enforcing a copyright is a daunting task - very time consuming. If it is something you feel you need to have protection for, then it might be worth your time to consider registering your works.
By registering your works, you can sue for damages, without registering your works, you cannot. Even if you sue and win, you still have to collect.
I think you can protect your images by overlaying a clear.gif on top of the images. When you try to copy the pictures, you end up with the clear gif.
