Ebooks on my blog legal

I am planning to start a blog from which everyone can download ebboks. Mainly
textbooks and novels.
Is this legal?
I have downloaded the books from other sites.

it depends if the e book is given for free by the author..

This depends. First, did you download them legally? Second, if you did then do you have the rights to redistribute them?
Normally then ebook will have a page at the start stating so if you do have the rights to distribute. If not then check the site that you downloaded them from.

There might be a readme.txt or lisence.txt. Did you look for those?

Its not legal.
What you can do is that you can add the names of books on your site and add the link to download from you downloaded. You can put a ebook on your server for download if you do not have ditribution license for it, but you can always add a download link from other website.

if you dont have the copywrites to all of the books or if the author isnt giving these out for free.. then it is illegal and stay awayyyyyy. oh my

it is not legal if you havent got licence from the authors... you should get permission then open it... but there are many other way to do it... if you need help then tell...

You need to understand copyrighting first. We have a list of Copyright Resources and the top of this section of the forum.

Go back to the sites where you got these ebooks from.
a) they might allow redistibution with some rules
b) you might be able to become an affiliate = allowed to redistribute on your site
c) you might be able to become an affiliate using only an affiliate link
d) if a through c are not applicable, then as suggested, you are going to have to just provide a lnk to where to get the ebook.
