A client wants me to sign a NDA, which I have no problem doing, but he wants a copy of my ID. His explanation is:

This information will be kept on file at my office only for legal and accounting purposes. Your personal information will not be shared with anyone outside our office, including employees not physically given access to my office. The only time your identity may be shared is in the course of normal accounting purposes and as required by US and Idaho state law or it's agencies. As soon as I have received and filed this paperwork, I will send ....

Is this normal for NDA's? I never had to sign one before.

Signing the NDA in front of a notary in the state in which you reside would be something I have heard of. Submitting a copy of my ID to an insecure location would be a cause of concern to me.
