I just posted to 3 or 4 topics and not once did I look at the date to see if it was new or old.

There is a huge difference between responding to an old thread on accident (or because you are seriously interested in the topic) and going through the forum intentionally looking for old threads with PageRank to get your signature link on.

Now if they were to take that footage and make a dvd out of it, or even post it on a website and charge you to see it, is that illegal without the expressed written consent of those who were recorded?

I think it would be best to atleast have them sign a release form or something. Just to be sure that no legal problem would arise in the future.

uh-oh I also didn't look at the date (evidently). Just wanted to share my thought on the topic. I guess both Cricket and Imaghinemn have good points. Perhaps this is a good topic for a Poll, don't you think? Just kidding
