Hello all

I have a site bollywoodimages.org, No issue the website content (image has been downloaded from other resources. But the image is not containing the logo on it.

Now the problem is that when I went in the google forum and put my question there about seo ranking on google's first page.

Every one started to threatened me, that this is illegal you are containing the other websites images.

Help me to confirm the right issue.

Well, it IS illegal to take pictures from other sources. There are certain laws that you have to obey. You can get sued for that.

When you absolutely have to take a picture from another source, ask the owner if you can use it or use public-domain pictures .

If the images are copyrighted then you cannot post them on your website without permission from the owner of that copyright. You have to ask and may even find you get permission for free. If you are using the images to promote a product then you would be expected to pay royalties

The owner does not have to put their name on the image to own the copyright.

Now,
Did you ask the person who took the picture or the star's agent if you can use the images?

If not, if they find them and care to exercise their copyright ownership they can contact you requesting the images be taken down. They can also contact your domain registrar and your web hosting and have your site taken down if you ignore the request to remove.

If you just got your images from Google search, then it is very likely that those are copyrighted.

The only way to make sure that you can use any images is to take/create one yourself or get from public libraries.

Just as everyone has pointed out, an artist/photographer does not need to stamp their name or company on it to own copyright (stamping is mainly a deterrent to remind people not to use them and to acknowledge the views who it belongs to). So unless you have taken the photos or have received permission from the person that did, you are violating copyright and can indeed at risk for being sued.

hi, it can be a problem if you redirecting the images from others site to your site. But if you downloading that images and uploading from your pc then its not a reason.

You evidently did not notice the date this thread was started. Latest Google updates not applicable in this case.
