American ISPs to launch massive copyright spying scheme on July 12
Hmm, best be watching what you download.
Quote:
If you download potentially copyrighted software, videos or music, your Internet service provider (ISP) has been watching, and they’re coming for you.
Specifically, they’re coming for you on Thursday, July 12.
That’s the date when the nation’s largest ISPs will all voluntarily implement a new anti-piracy plan that will engage network operators in the largest digital spying scheme in history, and see some users’ bandwidth completely cut off until they sign an agreement saying they will not download copyrighted materials.

Everyone living in America please boycott this company. You cannot allow people to do this to the world.

Just use your computer and their unlocked wireless connection. I know I have more than one to choose from here.

*slaps self in the back of the head*
I should of thought of that one.
Come July 12th, we will be reading a lot of stories of people getting nailed for this stuff. If young kids as in highschool kids get hit, there parents won't be that happy for sure.

Back in highschool i made money by burning CD's for people in school off Napster. Parents even bought me blank CD's.
I don't do this type stuff no more. I know a few people at work who somehow download movies off the internet for free. This should stop this coming July if they read this news.

Remember SOPA/PIPA? They could have used it to shut down perfectly legal sites.
Who's to say they aren't going to try to do the same thing in this scenario?

I was speaking of my router.
If and when the time comes that the government needs to kill all or portions of the internet for a period of time they will do so with or without the proper laws in place.
Laws are just pretty masks they were for public approval.

Yes I know, I was referring to the part of you saying "You don't do that stuff.", where I said they could probably coerce the ISPs to send you warnings for downloading something that is completely legal.

Shameful, but what do you expect when all the politicians in Congress are bought out? That's why I'm not going to waste my time voting this year. What I've realized is that your vote instantly does not matter as soon as some suit gives a few million dollars to a candidate's campaign. What's even worse is that some of these politicians (ex. Orrin Hatch) have been caught using pirated software to run their web pages and yet they'll get off scott free while they look up more excuses to fine and throw people in jail.

Most of the so-called anti-"piracy" groups and corporations are actually violators themselves. For example, Lamar Smith who is the creator of SOPA, was a copyright violator himself.

^ Not surprised by that. I think one of these government organizations in Europe was later caught engaging in the very "piracy" that they themselves enforce laws for. I saw that on TorrentFreak. Thanks for the article. I'm going to read it later.
