B*stard Stole my website! - Examples of C&D letter?

Crap.

Yesterday I discover that another website has made EXACT copies of pages from one of my websites. This includes all the content, tables, images, formatting, etc.

If it wasn't for the fact that the thief was hotlinking to my images I might never had known. Apparently this is a lazy thief.

Anyway I stopped the hotlinking via htaccess, but now I need to send something to their ISP and try to get them shut-down. A member of another forum showed me how to find out info about them.

I'm having trouble putting together a Cease & Desist letter, never having had to do this before. Does anyone know where I may be able to see a sample C&D letter? I tried searching the web but could not find anything that looked like what I needed.

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

A C&D letter carries little weight unless it is sent from an attorney's office.

Hire one

Just send them an email. Its cheaper, and it'll almost certainly have the desired result.

Cheaper than a brick? They're free - just look around on the ground. Plus, the exercise involved in throwing it carries cardiovascular benefits.

I'm hoping this person is someone with little experience and who is easily intimidated.

I would be nice if a single email/letter does the job. That brick suggestion could be step 2.

This really pisses me off though. I guess I should be thankful only pages were copied .. I've read instances where entire websites have been duplicated.

Same thing happed to me once, the woman in question said that she liked the design of my site in question and was just "trying things out". She removed the links to my images straight away, I sent her a bill with a "guesstimate" of my additional bandwidth costs. I didn't hear anything from that though...

Of my images that were being hot-linked, I toyed with the idea of changing them to porn or some other interesting theme, but in the end I just decided to block access to the graphics.

If I thought the site was getting a lot of traffic then I would have just changed the images.

Thats what I would have done! That would teach them a lesson
