Copyright and Baidu.com

I'm having some trouble getting several files taken down from this Chinese host site. Before, I'd have no issue emailing them to get my client's stuff taken down but recently the emails stopped working. So I went directly to the site, reporting the files using their report button and they seem to ignore it.

[copyright.baidu.com] <-- the site

Finally I decided to try to go through their copyright report system and dear god what the hell are they asking for? ID number? A picture of my ID card? Essentially things that, if I posted online, could destroy me (financially)?

I tried contacting them (through their website) about this and so far no answer at all. I asked if there was any other way I could report copyright files since what they're asking for are things I can't provide.

Maybe someone here has some advice about this site?
Are there any email address you know of?

Thank you in advance!

Baidu is for all practical purposes the Chinese government! You give them what they want or they won't entertain your requests - that's how it works. As you've experienced, there are no set rules to follow or the rules can change anytime. Good luck dealing with them!

I got no replies yet from them. I'll continue to try and update you (all) on the situation. This really shouldn't be this hard!

What kind if ID proof are they asking for anyway and how are you supposed to send it to them? Facebook also asks for ID proof but you don't have to post it to the open internet. You have to upload it to their site privately. If they're asking you to do it privately, you might as well do it. You may not have another choice. This is China we're talking about.

That's the thing, I'm not too sure and since I don't speak or read Chinese, this is a big problem. Again, they do have a report button, the options are: Pornography, Blood/gore, political hate stuff, and Copyright.

When you click any of them, it just say's thank you.
I've been trying this for a 3 weeks now and the files are still there.
I saw that they had a copyright complaint link at the bottom, so I went there and saw this (Remove the -'s of course!)

http:-//-copyright.-baidu.-com/personal/profile?backuri=http%3A%2F%2Fwq.copyright.baidu.co m%2Findex.php%2Findex%2Fauthor

I'm using google translate.
I assumed they're not asking for straight up ID cards and stuff, but the thing translate to ID CARD. Not identify the link you're complaining about or anything like that. ID card positive and negative? Handheld ID card? ID number?

It's really complicated for no real reason!
Before I'd just email them and they'd take the links down, but now? This is crazy.

Google translate is still shaky at times, what browser are you using by the way? Because Chrome translates a website and its content.

I'm assuming you're based outside of China and you're doing it for a client based in China? Can't you just ask your client to translate for you instead of using Google translate. Better still, companies usually have contacts with their government in their countries of origin. So maybe your client can help you figure out why Baidu is behaving the way it is & to resolve whatever the matter is.

*usa.baidu.*com/contact-us/

Quick update, I still haven't gotten this issue resolved.
I contacted both the Chinese and English branches of the site. The Chinese branch told me to use the report button (most likely an automated message). I'm waiting for a reply from the English side. Once I do figure out this problem, I'll be sure to post it here for future reference for others with the same issue.
