Intellectual Property policy

I was working on a web app for a college semester project and I wanted to sell it and make money off of it.

A friend told me that if I want to sell it I have to go to the dean and ask him to accept the deal which is stupid if you ask me it's my work.

The thing I wanted to ask it's if I am bound to my university for every work I develop while being a student.

You very well could be bound by an intellectual property clause since I'll assume maybe some or all of the project may have been conceived or developed at the learning institutions property, in whole or in part.

If your project has a good potential to make some significant money, and if you have a few bucks in your pocket, you might want to consult with a lawyer first, so as to not make your intentions known to the college. You actually may find a lawyer that might give you a free initial consult, and they just may say approach the "dean" with your thoughts/ideas. Or not.

Let's forget about the fact that you have copied your post text from the Harvard website, and also are posting it under the guise of it being your own thoughts, but you forgot to copy and paste the principles part.

1. I don't know how you arrived at this conclusion.
2. I am currently studying at the Politehnica University of Bucharest and my friend from another college within the same university told me that.
3. I have spoken with the dean and they have renounced the intellectual property on my work so we are good now.

I am sorry that you think that I copied the whole thing and made it up...

I think you have misunderstood my previous post. It was calling out member @Imchetan for copying material in his/her post. It seems the post by @Imchetan has since been moderated/removed, as it should be when someone plagiarizes.

Understand now?

Why don't you just head over to the Bursar's office and ask them to clarify their policy on this matter? Pretty sure every university has a different one.
