A little while ago I realized someone was hotlinking to my images. After some investigating I discovered that this person also copied entired pages .. content and all .. from one of my websites and pasted them on their website.

I posted here and was given some advice on how to handle it. Taking that advice I found the person's email address via the whois and sent them a threatening

cease & desist email. This person eventually took down the offending pages and substituted their own .. although some of the pages still freely copied paragraphs from mine.

I then noticed that they were running Adsense ads all over the website, including several adult-themed pages. I contacted Google and told them how horrified

I was to discover their ads on pages with naughty sex images. I received 2 different emails from the Adsense team letting me know how serious they take this, and that I could be assured that it would be investigated.

I just looked back at that site over the weekend and found that they are no longer running Adsense ads on any of the pages.

I like to think they were banned, and that I had something to do with it.

Anyway ... thanks to all for the advice.

Id would of taken the site to court and got them to give you all their revenue because of "loss of sales" from the stolen content. Nice to know Google did something though.

This is a good report. At least the website owners can have the security and assurance that if ever the same or similar situations would happen to them ; then they already have the knowledge to handle it.

Google is fighting hard to protect their AdSense program. Works out great in most cases, but can hurt legitimate developers in some. I'm glad you got this guy, though. He definately deserved it.
