Re-Editing my Self-Made Videos

I have to ask you. what will i do if somebody copied/downloaded my self made clips and re-edit it? Even claiming it as their own work?

I was really shocked when i watched their clips, it's really MY WORK but they chopped it ... It was my personal video for my (a tribute) favorite celebrity.

Sorry to hear 'bout that.

Well, you can email him outright and tell him that you own the video clip and for him to stop editing it and claiming it as his. If this doesn't work, check your State laws and ask agencies concerned for necessary actions or legal remedies you may take up against the person who did this.

Best of luck!

Try contacting the site directly asking them to remove it. It works about 40% of the time, and can't hurt.

Then we'll help you from there.

Contact their hosting company and report it. The hosting companies are usually helpful because its a liability.

using somebody else's video can be done legally. It all depends on how you use it and where you got it.

I can take any video and report on it, with the video in mine and that is legal. Example would be: Christ Crock (leave Brittney alone video) was shown thousand of times on TV. Comedians ripped it apart. He got nothing for it.

Where did they get the video? If you put it on youtube with an embed code. You have no rights at all. Because by you putting an embed code on it, you are saying take me and use this, it's free. Read youtube TOS.

Did you know when you post something on youtube you gave them rights to make money on your work and you can collect nothing at all? (read their TOS)

I know the TOS. I guess my main reason is these people don't have dignity and lazy to think for a new concept. They were my "friends" who are now my "enemies" because of what they did. They eventually hold a public viewing for their clips (and i am present during those times) And most of my friends, whispered and said -- they copied it with no shame ... It's ok, at least am proud that my works have been spread all over the world wide web, esp in youtube! hahaha! --and i didn't upload it on youtube. It happened i gave these people a "CD" of my works. Because of what they did, I eventually uploaded these clips on youtube for viewers can judge who copied-who.

You should have disabled the embeded code on YouTube when you were uploading on the first place. Now, you can't do anything except report the guy to his hosting company or site he uploaded the video.
