How To Copyright scripts created by me ?

can anyone tell me how do i copyright a script that i have made?
do i need 2 register it somewhere? or by just putting the few statements like
copyright 2007 xyz ...... will make it mine?

You don't need to register it to copyright material, and sure, putting the year and your name can help. I would also include an email or webaddress and a note that removing such information from the script is not allowed.

You should consider encrypting your scripts as well, it's the best way to protect your copyright and your business.

People can always create "clones" of your script (which are basicly your script with a few modifications) and I believe you can't do anything to stop it. It is better that you encrypt your script and say in the licence that decrypting of source code is not allowed, so if you see a decripted version of your script somewhere that has code the same as your script's, you will know that they stole it and you can take legal actions, but if you provide your script freely and people just remove the copyright notice, it would be very hard for you to prove that it is actually your creation.
