Taxes and Adwords

I've got a question...

So a lot of us on here make a great deal of money online and always have to pay taxes on them... usually through a 10-99 or whatever.

This year while I was filing, I wanted to put my Adwords budget as a write off (PPC ads). Is that legal? I didn't write any off b/c I didn't want to get burned, but I am wondering what other's do!

I mean, to the government, AdWords costs LOOKS like 'Advertising Costs'... right?

Let me know!

Eh? I didn't really follow that... can you clarify please. I suppose I'm only interested in California (USA) tax laws.

If it is a business expense, yes, you write it off. Somewhere on IRS Schedule C is a line item for advertising costs (I believe). If not, it fits on another line somewhere. Most costs of doing business are deducted from gross income unless you live in a state that taxes your gross income. And in that case I'd move.
