What do i need to sell on the internet

Exactly what do i need to sell software from my website? How many of the following do i need:

-A shopping cart software
-A credit card processor
-An online merchant account
-A digital security certifictate

Its all kinda confusing.Do I need all of the above?
Someone recommended to me a few days back,to use ClickBank,or 2checkout(sorry dont remember the name).Would using one of them handle all of the credit card processing, merchant account, etc, stuff?
Please recommend any programs that you like. However, please keep in mind that I live in pakistan and i cannot use the programs which do not provide payment in my country,e.g Paypal. Also,I'm low on budget,so I'd prefer a cheap service.
Thanks.

What's the OS of your server and which language do you prefer? (i.e. Windows platform with ASP/ASP.NET or Linux with PHP) If you state that I think you can get many suggestions. There are many useful softwares covering almost all of your online sales needs.

It depends on what products you sell, shopping cart may be not necessary. If you use online merchant account, then you don't have to take care of the payment processing(I reckon). Different industry maybe have different choices.
For example, there are some companies are specially for shareware, the whole procedure is automate, I can leave my vocabulary builder site alone for some days.

I overlooked you message, if you want to sell software, there are several popular companies : shareit.com, regnow.com, regsoft, etc, normally the register is free, they charge you by comission(15% ~ 20%). Finish your software, website and everything else before register an account

By the way, I use shareit, you can PM me if you have further questions.

I think I've bought some software via shareit before. It was quick and easy. They also support the merchant with an FAQ module as I remember.
Can be a good choice for you digitman.

ClickBank handles all the order processing and even
payment to affiliates should you use them.

Your initial cost is only $49 for an account and
deduction (of 7.5% + $1) is made for each sale.

Pakistan is one of the countries allowed to use ClickBank.

Re: what do i need to sell on the internet

This is all you need
-A shopping cart software : osCommerce
-A credit card processor : Use 2Checkout 3rd party processor for Pakistan
-An online merchant account : No need, your transaction volume $ is too low
-A digital security certifictate : No need, osCommerce can use secure certificate at 2Checkout and return back after accepting payment.
-SSL libraries : No need, use 2Checkout

Go with PayPal for ease of setup.
Most shopping cart packages support it out of the box.

Learn the ropes without the expense of Merchant Accounts and Certificates.
You only need those things if your site will be accepting credit cards or electronic cheques and you need to receive the customer's personal data over SSL. Let PayPal do it for you.
The commission is kind of high though.

Also make sure you look into the security aspects of the shopping cart software you select to make sure that no one can electronically shop lift your products.

995 merchant accounts are another service you may want to use, paypal can freeze account and take your money sometimes, so i wouldnt advise them- verisign are an ebay company too so make sure you completely avoid them. Thawte are good.

you getting started right in the IM (internet marketing) arena?

you should look to get started with affiliate programs.

meaning you promote someone elses product and get a commission for

it. Doing that you can get your feet wet in the IM market.

If you are looking to go that route then study this guy Ewen Chia.

He is a master at affiliate marketing.
