After trying Aweber and GetResponse.com and being dissatisfied with the extent of my control over the mailing lists, I purchased Sendblaster based on another recommendation made here. Both Aweber and GetReponse look like they would be really good options for someone who wants a turnkey bulk email system, especially if they are starting from scratch. Sendblaster, however, is software I could download to my computer, putting me in complete control of my lists, my coding, my content, etc. I just sent my first email newsletter using this software, and I am pretty satisfied. There's a free version that only lets you send 100 emails at a time, and the paid version costs about $124. If I continue to use SMPT relaying through my cable company ISP, Sendblaster will be saving me $288 per year after month after five months.
